Certosa di Calci (how to reach it), the suggestive monastery of Carthusian monks of Calci was built by the followers of the order of San Bruno (14th C.) and later became one of the most important monasteries in Tuscany. Certosa di Calci hosts nowday one of the most interesting Italian museum of Natural Science and territory history boasting a precious Gallery of Cetaceans. In the monastery is worth a visit to the church with its Baroque frescoes, the cloister, the old pharmacy, the duke guest room with its furnishing and furthermore the Romanesque Pieve (parrish church of the 18th C.).
